Here is Joe's description of the race.
"The creek crossings were pretty tough, I wasn't prepared for that! Anyway, it's only the second time I've ridden my mtn bike all year. I placed 7th at 1:34:45 among 20 or so riders. 3200 feet of climbing, and incredible downhill (i didn't really like the water bars for a race, a fun ride yes, race NO) and 16.8 miles. Fantastic showing of 300+ riders. I also won a new pair of sunglasses and a kona apron, not bad for my first mtn bike race. Man, I could use a lighter bike, I think I was one of a few there using old v-brakes and that beast weights 32lbs or so. One guy decided he wanted to be carried off the mtn and went to the hospital. There are pics of larry, and Brian. Charlie started and finished, but he ended up doing the right thing and stopped to help with the injured guy."
Kudos to Charlie for helping with the injured, not a surprise for those that know Charlie.
